Personal background
Hi there!

I am 28, live in Munich, Germany, and work as a journalist, mostly on film. I run Seti@home on my trustworthy iMac, for over 300 units now.
Thoughts about SETI and SETI@home
Well, I've come to using Seti@home, because I am definitely convinced that there is intelligent life out there, yet far away. Actually, with space being nearly infinitely big, the chances of no other intelligent life being out there seem infinitely small to me. So, I am participating in this deed, which in my eyes is plain necessary. What I like about the project is that there are so many users from all over the world united. This project is refreshingly indifferent to questions as belief or personal interests: it's just a way of watching the skies collectively. Once, I had a hit, and it felt great: One of the peaks was incredbily big and spread at 100% power along one frequency through the wohle timeframe. I was so excited that I forgot to make a screenshot. After one minute or so, the client already demanded to be connected to the internet, and off it went, my precious one-time experience. I guess it was a plane or something equally unspectacular. I have come to being interested in space exploration already as a small kid, and experimented a lot with fireworks. That was quite a time, although my parents never suspected anything. :-D The key experience to my interest, I think, was the Vovager project that reached Saturn in 1981. Of course, Star Wars, Close Encounters, 2001, The Time Machine, Silent Running, Logan's Run and E.T. did the rest.
