Personal background
I'm a french amateur astronomer of 28 years old. I have discovered SETI@Home at the very beginning of the project. I'm a scientist (materials engineer) and when I'm not watching the deep sky I have some interest in computers, books, traveling for total solar eclipses...

Thoughts about SETI and SETI@home
About the extra-terrestrial life, there are lots of things to say. But truth is nobody knows really what it could be, if it could be. SETI@Home is not THE answer at this question but it is a part of a global research.
We are in a "cave" with only few "windows" as telescopes. It's very interessant to use our ears as Arecibo do in radiofrequencies. I think that mankind needs to wake up and be conscious of our situation. We know almost nothing about our Universe and it's important, for our future, to learn about space.
It's true we have a very little chance to discovered a signal from ETs but if we find ?
So, I encourage people to use SETI@Home, a free scientific project to track the black cat in the dark room...
