Personal background
Red_Writer: Otherwise know as Ronald Dove, I spent much of my youth gazing at stars and reading science fiction -- aliens, anyone? Practicalities and a passion for life-long learning led me into Computer Science and a career in Signal Processing and Telecommunications.

SETI THOUGHTS

I took it for granted there would be someone/something Out There, though I've reduced my expectations somewhat that I might know the answer during my lifetime. I've begun to believe that Space Travel in the grand sense of 'To The Stars!' may never be practical for anything but robotics: It's too much a question of lots of Time and lots of Energy. Personally, I've hedged my bets on something more like an Ultra-Wide-Area Galactic Network. We will one day discover intelligent emissions from neighboring systems, the raison-d'etre for S.E.T.I. I would like to be alive when that evidence of intelligence is somehow confirmed. But if on that day, I'm not still with the rest of you, please remember to say 'Hi' from me anyway? And if we receive membership in the long sought-after Encyclopedia Intergalactica, see if you can get my name mentioned somewhere in the endnotes.
