Personal background
I'm from Stratford, Ontario Canada. I'm 45 years old and I am self taught in using and repairing/building computers. I got my very first computer in the summer of 1995 when win95 was just released. My first computer upgrade was to take place about a year and a half later when I lost the video side of my motherboard, due to a power supply failure. By the end of the next two years, the only original parts left in that first computer were the soundblaster 16 and the original monitor (Daewoo 14"). Now even those parts are just fond memories of yesteryear. I just finished building a new computer as of two days ago. A sweet little number with an AMD Athlon 1800 (thouroughbred)chip, mounted on a QDI Kudoz 7E/333 motherboard, toped off with an MSI G4ti 4200 graphics card. Runs like a dream. I drive a hack by day and I hack around with computers by night. Bye for now.
Thoughts about SETI and SETI@home
I believe there is other life forms in some universe, just maybe not ours. As for when we will discover it, I think it has already discovered us. At least thats what you would think by the large number of sittings reported every year. I really think we need to touch base with whatever it is thats out there in order to gain there knowledge of space travel and possibly time travel in order to be able to break our limitations that are obviosly holding us back. We should definitly be sending out beacons for others to find. They must carry every known frequency possible from analog to digital to microwaves and any other possible medium that exists today. This will help to ensure that whatever is out there will hopefully understand at least some part of the beacon if it is intercepted. All of these reasons and more are why I chose to join the SETI@home project. I have several friends that have been running SETI for quite some time now and that religeously believe in the project. That is another reason I thaught I would try it for myself. It would be very exiting to be the one to recieve that first response from ET. Sorry, I havn't been involved with the project long enough to forward any suggestions.
