Personal background
I'm from Greenlawn, New York USA, where I live with my wife and 3 1/2 year old son. I'm 31 years old. I work as a systems administrator for a securities clearing firm, where I maintain the integrity of data from trading platforms investors use from around the globe. I first learned of Seti@home from my older brother, and thought it was a good idea. I run the program from three different computers which are not the fastest, but are on all the time. When I'm not at work, I enjoy being with my family and fixing up my home.
Thoughts about SETI and SETI@home
Anyone who truely thinks we are alone in the universe cannot be thinking rationaly. I've seen others on this site who quote passages from sci-fi movies regarding why they believe life exists outside our planet, but just sit down and you should come to the same conclusion. Space is incredibly V-A-S-T. What are the chances Earth is the only one with life? Now, I don't want to sound like Leonard Nimoy on "In Search of," but look at some examples on earth:

1. Stonehenge -- These stones came from thousands of miles away.
2. Easter Island -- I refer to number 1.

These two alone, along with uncountable number of sightings. Even if 90% of the reports of sightings are fake, still leaves some that are real.

I believe that there are many ETs out there that are far more advanced than us. Surely there are also many more that are far behind.
