Profile: Rcon

Personal background
I am located in Redmond Washington (just east of seattle), I am a 37 year old computer technician, who likes to play with computers (hence the job description). I have been using seti@home since around the first day it became available, and as of right now (8 Aug 2002) I have done 5009 work units.

I started with a P-120 with win98, went through an assortment of computer upgrades, from a PIII-1G with WinXP as well as on a Dual PIII-1G with win2k server. Then went to a P4 3.2Ghz, and now running a Quad Core 2.66Ghz. Intereting to see how much the tech has changed over the last 10 years.

I am part of the Robotech group, and go by the name of Rcon.
Thoughts about SETI and SETI@home
I hope extraterrestrial life exsists, otherwise it's going to be real boring out there with no one to talk to. I hope we discover them or they discover us in my life time, but not going to hope for it.

I think we should transmit a beacon just to say Hi we are here come over and have a chat.

I run it in hopes of being the one to process the unit that has the signal in it. I do really hope this project goes on for a while longer, and that they can get pieces from other parts of the sky, and maybe eventually use orbital or lunar recievers. It's a big sky out there, so there are lots of places to look, and with Moores Law of computers still in full force, we will be able to do each area faster and faster.
