I am raising my two children Keith 3 and Isabel 18 months, I also attend college part time seeking my first bachlor degree. The future of space exploration is in the hands of our children so I raise mine to work to expand themselves, their minds, and their horizons.
Thoughts about SETI and SETI@home
1. I think that there is that possibility. By math and common sense the universe is just to big for us "to be alone". Extraterestrial life does exist and I want to have helped prove the naysayers wrong. I don't belive we will find them in my lifetime. The time of discovery will be when they deem fit or by pure accident. There are great possibilities both good and dangerous of discovery. But you do have to roll the dice and take your chances to find out.

2.No we should definantly not transmit a becon as contact with all new races on our own planet all intial gestures (reaching out) were almost always misunderstood.

3.I run seti to put my comuter resources to some benificial use. I love the project as by the numbers from various countries it brings many differing cultures together for the common good of man kind. If we could only apply this concept to our dealings here on earth we would spend less time killing each other and more time accomplishing great and wonderfull things.
