Personal background
Well I am a 24 year old part time student now, working towards my Computer Science degree at a local college in Florence South Carolina. Currently I work with Sonoco Products Company, in their Computer support/technical dept. I enjoy my job, I mean heck they are paying me to do what I love; "play" with computers. I've been a member of SETI@Home for some time now, and donate my workunits to the group [ARS]Team Lamb Chop (hi guys!). My hobbies are anything computer related, gaming, bicycling, racquettball, and just hanging around with friends.
Thoughts about SETI and SETI@home
I do think extraterrestrial life exists; I cannont imagine that in this great, boundless expanse we call space that we are the sole lifeform. For if the expanse of space is infinite, then im sure conditions were right on another planet somewhere, at sometime to spark some form of life.

Hard to say if we should transmit a beacon; we must consider the consequenses of such actions. If humanoid life (or life at all for that matter) is so rare, and so much space exists between different habital planets; if we transmitted out position with a beacon of some sort stating "Hey guys where here come visit us!". What if an ET comes to us and wants our planet ?

I started running SETI to benchmark my computer (something I read on www.arstechnica.com) along time ago. Well I enjoyed looking for ETs and figured that this was a worthy project for my spare CPU cycles, so here i am...
