Thoughts about SETI and SETI@home
I run SETI@home because if there are ET signals to find, it sure would be a shame if we didn't notice them. I'm skeptical that there are signals to find -- not because I think there isn't other intelligent life out there, but because I seriously doubt that said life would use radio signals to communicate. For example, lasers would be much more efficient if you know to whom you're talking and where they are. Notice how we're not sending out massive comms signals, but just focusing on receiving them? Why should others do any differently?

But hey, that's just my opinion -- we should cover our bets!
