Thoughts about SETI and SETI@home
Since I was a little boy, I remember looking up at the sky on cool autumn nights and wondering who may be doing the same thing on some distant world. There has to be life out there. If nothing else, the laws of probability say there are. The universe is too large for us to be the only ones here. We should proceed with caution however. Should new humanoids be encountered, they could bring with them extra-terrestrial bacteria which could potentially wipe us out. We should proceed with with enthusiastic caution. I do not believe we will see any contact within the next several generations. The stars we are studying now died out millions of years ago. If someone is out there, they may be as young a race as we are and may not have the technological know how to get to us, just as we can not now get to them.
