I believe that taken the near-infinite size of our universe, it is inevitable for other forms of life to exist in other parts of it. Yet because of the diffuculty associated with the discovery of such life, it would be foolish to make any predictions about it. We just don't know, we don't have a clue on any WHENS or HOWS. Now if such a discovery would be made it would have some very far going implications on our society, will those implications be beneficial or dangerous, that depends on the discovery itself, which is even more unpredictable than whens and hows.
