Personal background
I'm working on getting an Engineering degree in computer networking and telecommunication. I served 8 years in the U.S. Army as a Multichannel Communications Equipment Operator(31M). I currently live in a small township of only 2100 people. We have more livestock than people. I raise pygmy goats, ducks and geese. My goal is to work as a computer engineer and make enough money so that I can have a NPGA registered pygmy goat herd. They're cute lil' knuckle heads...what can I say?
Thoughts about SETI and SETI@home
1. It would be incredibly arrogant to believe that we are "it". If we find E.T. it will most likely be by accident. A serendipitous kind of thing. I think the long term effects of this knowledge would be beneficial for the human species. Initially there would be a hue and cry from religious fundies, but they would soon fall silent to the crushing realization that they were wrong.

2. Be careful what you wish for...for you may surely get it.

3. I run SETI@home because I think it stinks what NASA and Congress did to the SETI program. The only suggestion I have is for someone to research spread spectrum analysis. I believe that any long range transmission from space would come in that form.
