Profile: Gary & Keith

Personal background
We are a middle aged, commited, monogomous gay couple. We have been together for close to 12 years. Keith is an RN working on a bone marrow transplant ward, and I am a Pharmacy Technician working in a major hospital mostly preparing Chemo Therapy. Both of us had previously been married and our x-wives are still very much a part of our lives. Together we have raised five daughters (maybe an ET would like to help with impending wedding costs!) We are definitely a very unusual large blended family, almost a fairytail existence (no pun intended). It wasn't until September 2000 that we could actually afford to buy a computer. Raising five daughters tends to be rather expensive! Soon after, I discovered the SETI@home project and we both agreed that it would be a very worthwhile endeavour. ETs aside, we know that with over 3 million current participants, there are obviously a number of other gay and lesbian clients out there! It would be interesting to know just how many (I guess that would be a different project though)! Here's hoping that with the combined effort of many dedicated people of very diverse backgrounds, we will one day make contact!
Thoughts about SETI and SETI@home
We believe that it is very presumptuos of 'Mankind' to think that we would be the only intelligent life in this or any other galaxy. In fact, we believe that there are most certainly intelligent ETs out there. Whether or not they wish to be found remains to be seen. On an evolutionary scale, we may be so beneath other life forms that we are of no interest. If in fact, we are of interest, let us hope that we would be treated far better than we have treated others throughout history. We commend any and all efforts to make contact. The quest for knowledge should be never ending and all encompasing. We consider it an honour to be a part of SETI@home, and hope that results will be seen in our lifetime. If not, we have five daughters and their future progeny to carry on with the search. Thank you for letting us be a small part of this very large and most important project.
