I think that extraterrestrial life exists and its just a matter of time till signs are detected, as for possible benefits and dangers I think the time lag involved in a meaningful conversation would make any danger unlikely but there may be some benefit to be had.
Yes we should transmit a beacon.
I run Seti@home because I think I am contributing in a vary small way towards first contact.
As for views and suggestions I think things are just fine, but perhaps a mail drop of interesting development made in the project would be a good idea.
