Personal background
Having just finished my GCSE's I am now concentrating on preparation for 6th
Form and getting a part-time job. My current hobbies include gaming and I am an
Unreal Tournament mapper at Unreal
Playground.
I just founded the

UP@SETI@Home group and I'm hoping it'll take off and we can notch up some
real big numbers of processing times.
Thoughts about SETI and SETI@home
Question - Do you think extraterrestrial life exists? If so, when and how will humans discover it? What are the possible benefits and dangers of such a discovery?

Answer - Yes. By the laws of probability, unless something has a probability of absolutely 0, which nothing has, then the more times the event which could cause it happens, the closer to one it becomes. The universe is infinite, that means ALL things are possible. We'll find it when we find it but I like to hope in my lifetime. The actual benefeits and dangers are just one of those things that are so wild and varied that an answer can't possibly given (at least by me ;D)

Question - Should humans transmit a beacon for others to find? If so, what information should we send?

Answer - Of course. Its what we're listening for isn't it? A constant pulse of white noise on all frequencies every 10 seconds would work nicely. Essentially, if it would show up like a neon light on SETI's computers, it'll do the same on someone else's instruments.

Why do you run SETI@home? What are your views about the project? Any suggestions?

3. I run SETI@Home so I can use my PC to do something which will help humanity.
