Profile: Rich Stow

Personal background
I'm a motorcycle riding, CAD teaching, Science-fiction reading, Dixieland jazz listening, non-smoking, non-drinking, non-practicing ordained minister, ex- US Army Paratrooper, Ranger and LRRP that is addicted to the computer and really bad puns. I have six sons, one daughter and two step-daughters (in that order), all of which are grown and require minimum input from me to stay balanced. I was born in Pennsylvania, but have lived all over the eastern United States, and currently reside in south-east Virginia.
Thoughts about SETI and SETI@home
I have been involved in the SETI@Home project since 2002. I have always been interested in space - anything to do with space. Growing up in the age of space travel (even if for just a selected few) and eagerly devouring all of the information on the subject that I could get my hands on (fact and fiction), I realized that this is probably the best hope I will ever have of learning how restricted or wide spread intelligent life is in the universe. I keep a copy of the "Goldilocks" equation posted over my desks - at home and at work - just to remind myself of the many possibilities.
