Personal background
Well thanks to Patrick Moores 'The Sky at Night' I got interested in astronomy as a kid. Don't have the real estate or weather to justify an observatory but my 6" scope provides entertainment on those (rare!) clear English nights. I am 46, broadcast engineer so the thoughts of contacting or hearing other civilizations always made sense and hope that in my lifetime we may get proof of alien intelligence.
Oh the photo is the Holme Moss transmitter on the Pennine hills near my home in Holmfirth. Well thats my base for work which involves looking after BBC TV, radio and other things around the area.
Thoughts about SETI and SETI@home
We should not just be sitting back and listening, a few megawatts of targetted SHF through a big dish for some years could pay dividends for our ancestors who in a few hundred or thousand of years may get a reply.
