Personal background
I am from Nanticoke, Ontario Canada, I am currently employed at a computer store in Ancaster Ontario.
I am using 4 computers a Celeron 1.3Ghz, a P4 1.6Ghz a P4 1.8Ghz as well as a PIII 733 (0.C'd to 800Mhz)
I felt that since the computers sit doing nothing for most of the day I could accomplish more for SETI by utilizing these idle computers.
The computers are hooked up to a LAN, share the internet on a high speed connection and are set up to connect automatically when they need a new work unit.
The P4 is currently crunching work units at approximately 1 unit every 7 hours. My home computer is doing 1 unit every 13 hours on average.
I started using the computers for SETI about 1 month ago and have completed approximately 150 units since then.
I am proud to be a part of the SETI team and tell people about it whenever I get the chance, the more people looking the sooner we may find something, and if we ever do, it will be a thrill to know I played a small part in it.
Regards,
Paul D.
Thoughts about SETI and SETI@home
I'm not 100% sure there is an E.T. but if there is I hope we find it. I enjoy running SETI because it's nice to know that my computer is good for something other than playing the SIMS. :)
