Personal background |
I'm a full-time high school student, part-time burger flipper, saxophone enthusiast, and avid computer geek. I enjoy listening to jazz and experimental electronic music, reading (and watching) classic science fiction, and surfing the internet 'till the wee hours of the morning. I have a personal weblog site at http://bralack.blogspot.com, where you can find out everything new with my life.
The computer I'm using is a Dell Dimention 8200 (Pentium 4 1.90gHz processor, 256MB of RAM). I run Windows XP Home Edition. |
Thoughts about SETI and SETI@home |
How can I know that life exists? Sure, I imagine and hope that there's something out there, but there's no way I, or anyone for that matter, can be sure. The benefits would be phenomenal, as we would know our small, habitable island in the sea of space isn't the only. To share experiences and knowledge with another, perhaps more technologically advanced, society would do nothing short of change the world forever. To have a brother race would re-affirm the preciousness life and give our world a new direction.
I run SETI@Home because I feel this is a just, beneficial cause, and my computer sits idle most of the time anyways. Why not use some of the power I spent a fortune buying for some good? |
