Thoughts about SETI and SETI@home
I think extraterrestrial life may exist; however, unlike some belivers I am of the oppinion that the life that may one day be found may be less evolved than what we know.

The most immediate danger would be transmition of illnesses diseases much like has happened with romote tribes and villages who were unexposed to illnesses until they had visiters from other parts of our world and that caused catastrophic sickness and death.

The binifits of finding another world with life of any type would be countless.

Who's to say that we are not the most advanced civilization in the universe and other planets only imagine ever some day the possibility of "alians" in space crafts. I mean we are the ones flying around in space. Given the Age of the Universe and the age of simular stars with possible terestrial planets, it's possible that those planets haven't evolved enough to be at our level.

Seti@home can't hurt. I suspect that simular projects could be run to compute other things like the largest VLA known to man. It wouldn't take much of a receiver to receive and transmit data to look further into the cosmos than ever dreamed before. The potential is limitless.
