I am from northwestern Pennsylvania. I am 23 years old and a major in MIS at Youngstown State University. I'll be graduating in Spring 2003 and hopefully the job market will rebound so I can actually work. I love astronomy and science in general. I was a former chemistry major (the calculus killed me). If you want to find out more about me check out my web page at http://www.geocities.com/blazer0018.
Thoughts about SETI and SETI@home
I believe that life exists elsewhere in the universe. There is no way that Earth can be the only planet with life. Years ago it was possible to argue that there wasn't but as more and more planets are discovered it seems likely that we aren't alone. I think SETI is a valuable tool to find out what is out there. Since our space program is still in its infancy we aren't able to go out and search on our own. The next best thing is to listen. I run SETI@home to help the cause. And why not, should my computer find something interesting it might be an easy way to get that 15 minutes of fame.
SETI@home and Astropulse are funded by grants from the National Science Foundation, NASA, and donations from SETI@home volunteers. AstroPulse is funded in part by the NSF through grant AST-0307956.
