Thoughts about SETI and SETI@home
1. ET life must exist. The universe is just a bit too large for it to be otherwise. There must be other races out there who might wonder why people behave the way they do.
Dangers are minimal. If there are any, we can take care of ourselves via a working theremin [Burton, 1996].
2. Humans should transmit a beacon. Problem is, are we using the right protocol? (read: are ETs running IP6?)
3. Because windowmaker has a neat dockapp with a cool-looking ET face. :)
