Thoughts about SETI and SETI@home
The odds greatly favor us not being alone, but in the same breathe I must admit that the factors that make those odds good are the same factors that make the odds of ever knowing it as a fact too slim to calculate. The sheer vastness of space is the greatest cause while being the greatest hinderance to finding other life.
We should transmit a signal to include basic primes and information on our understanding of math; numbers will be our common language; also include a selection of common languages along with photo and motion images of common earth locations.
I run SETI@Home so that hopefully my little drop in the bucket helps speed along the project so that some day it may realize its goals; maybe I won't find a signal worth looking at, but by taking these few signals I can free up someone elses computer to process a promising signal.
