Profile: We_WILL_Find_Eachother

Personal background
I'm 26 year old systems integration engineer from beautiful San Diego. I'm an agnostic/atheist person with strong morals. Its just that I'm too logically and scientifically minded to believe in such fear curbing myths as God, or Jesus. I believe that us, humans, are the smartest combination of the universe's elements as far as we know. We are thus, the eyes, ears, and hands of the universe. My God is Mother Nature, the underlying undetected invisible force that created the first single celled life on this planet, the force that strived to create the perfect being, the force that ultimately created us. Of course, I also think that Humans are God, its just that we are not ready to step up to that responsiblity. Responsibilities such as, protecting all other life on Earth, protecting the planet/environment, protecting our own kind. All I know is that I am one in a new generation of people that are too smart for religion. But there is one belief we all share, we are not alone.
Thoughts about SETI and SETI@home
IF WE ARE NOT ALREADY SENDING A BEACON SIGNAL, THEN ALL OF THIS IS POINTLESS!!!
How can we be an intelligent life form looking for another intelligent life form's signal when we don't even send one! The signal we should be listening for should be a response to ours. Thus, we would know just what to look for since any intelligent life would copy our signal methods to reply!!! Seems like a no brainer to me. We are definitely NOT alone in this universe. It is just a matter of time until we connect. We will probably find proof of alien life by listening as we are. We will most likely hear a signal that has been altered somehow so we would know it was artificial. Some kind of signal modulation or enveloping or something. I doesn't even need to contain any information, just be unmistakeably artificial. For then we can pinpoint its location and send a reply signal. Then we can start to exchange info, once we know where to look. As far as dangers and benefits of such a discovery, well the benefits are pretty obvious I think. But the dangers are many. Look what we (USA) did to the Native Americans, the Africans! And I'm pretty sure ET life will differ in more than race! My point is we as a species are not ready yet. We have to stop killing ourselves and unite for any other intelligent species to feel safe communicating with us. We will also have to ween ourselves away from religion, for I believe any intelligent life would see religion as a threat of a possible bad reaction to contact. If we are not open minded to other life and other answers than God, then we will be a unstable risk to them. As far as our beacon to send. Send info to let them know where we are. As well as some of the mathmatical equations of elementary physics that we consider to be universal, such as gravity, and mass, etc. Then they will know we are intelligent. And of course some sign of peace would be prudent. Through pictures probably, or drawings. Maybe even some music. But first things first, SEND A SIGNAL!
