I'm just a normal person trying to help in the search for ET life
Thoughts about SETI and SETI@home
Do you think extraterrestrial life exists?
Most certainly. The universe is a ver large place and with that amount of space there are endless possibilites. If you can think of it then it probably exists somewhere in the infinite universe.
If so, when and how will humans discover it?
It might take us a while to find signs of other life because of the vastness of space. We will find it with programs like Seti@home that combine our collective thinking.
What are the possible benefits and dangers of such a discovery?
Learning advanced technology that may help us save our planet and perhaps colonize other planets. The dangers are that the ETs may have the same thought in mind and might just like Earth more than we do.
Should humans transmit a beacon for others to find?
Yes. If there are others like us out there who are just as curious as we are then we need to help them find us just like we would want them to do for us.
If so, what information should we send?
I say we just broadcast regular TV and let them decide what they think of us. If we give them the false impression then they may be disappointed when we finally meet.
Why do you run SETI@home?
I want to know what is out there. Our future lies in space and we need to know as much about it as we can.
What are your views about the project?
Its idea was way ahead of its time and its brilliant.
