What is it about stats and work units that makes me mad enough to build farm machines out of all kinds of spare parts? Maybe it’s the fun that can be had from inter-team competition, or getting into the Top 100 scoreboard. Sometimes the science project seems secondary!

The Down Time Boyz team was created in 1999 at the start of the original SETI@home project and consisted of Celeron 366’s and Pentium 2's, some of which were taking 116 hours per work unit! It was mainly a work team and consisted of IT slaves working with sometimes flaky hardware in a large hospital (hence the team name). Since 2000, some have left and some have joined but still there is great inter-team competition and secrecy as far as who has nabbed the various work machines!

Thankfully work units now only take 2-3 hours and a whole host of new hardware means that Down Time Boyz is now one of the top UK teams and ever growing due to owning so much spare hardware... so why not join us?
