Personal background
9Systems Programmer / Database Administrator for the Agency of Transportation. 25 year state employee. Back on Fri May 21 13:09:04 1999 UTC I saw the SETI@Home project as an exercise in data collection for myself. I have used the information made available on the personal statistics web site to learn to use MS Excel.
Thoughts about SETI and SETI@home
The self-proclaimed paragon of animals could use a little humility. Discovery of intelligence else where in the universe would be just the ticket. I feel we should first concede we are not the only intelligent life on this big blue ball however. Just because they swim doesn’t preclude intelligence. A beacon for others to find would just be lost in the "noise" we throw into outer space on a daily basis. I'm not sure it would be any different than the current load of information being broadcast in announcing we are here. My current use of SETI@Home is statistics for processing for my own use.

“Sometimes I think the surest sign that intelligent life exists elsewhere in the universe is that none of it has tried to contact us.”
