I WAS a 34 year old Help Desk Analyst for a mental health & mental retardation community support organization in South Central Texas when I got into SETI@HOME.
Now I'm a 39 year old musician with one album and a couple tours under my belt :p

Thoughts about SETI and SETI@home
In my opinion it is only the most [insert strong derogatory language here] who could entertain the possibility that there is no other life besides life here on earth. Life is as abundant in the megaverse as it is on this planet.
The possible benefits run the gamut. Unlimited possibilities.
The possible dangers are unimaginable.
I run SETI@home because I would love nothing more than to help humans get off this planet and spread out to other worlds.
Finding ANYTHING might cause improvements in many areas beginning with funding.
SETI@home and Astropulse are funded by grants from the National Science Foundation, NASA, and donations from SETI@home volunteers. AstroPulse is funded in part by the NSF through grant AST-0307956.
