Thoughts about SETI and SETI@home

I don't really know wether or not extraterrestrial intelligent life (that is by any means comparable to mankind) is existing. I think, we do have to scientifically confirm the existance or the not-existance of any other kind of intelligent life in the universe.

Until now there is is not enough evidence yet to say one way or another. Those who believe there is life out there are generally motivated by hope rather than evidence. And those who rely on some kind of evidence currently availible are really only speculating. But this is one reason why SETI@Home is a worthwhile project - it might provide us with some evidence one or way or another.

I'm very curious about the possibility of discovering extraterrestrial intelligence, the unique ways they might have adapted to their unique place in the universe, and the potentials and ways of living they have possibly discovered for themselves. And after all I am really nosey about the real implications any discovery of extraterrestrial life will have on mankind.
