Profile: Fedor Konovaloff

Personal background
I live in Moscow, Russia. I'm 19 years old. My occupation? A student of Moscow State University, specialized in the field of genetics. My plans are to get a good job in science, if it's still possible in our country. The main hobby is photography, especially black&white portraiture.
Thoughts about SETI and SETI@home
I think the odds of EL existing are very high. But EL and EI are different things, and the meaning of "intelligence" can be extremely varios across habitated worlds. The main problem is, in my opinion, that the rhythm of _their_ life can differ from ours hundreds of times! And _they_ may think that the pulse signal would be more distinguishable if it's period is, for example, 5 years 8-)

About the benefits etc.: I suppose that the more complex and developed _their_ civilization is, the frendlier it should be. If they were very hostile, they must be still the cave-dwellers.

SETI@Home - it's a very interesting and unique project, and for I am intrested in contacting with EI, I should run this program on my PC. By the way, I was impressed with program's lability - it is turned to run always, but if I run MS Word, it is loaded in normal 2 seconds, as before my joining SETI@Home. Thanks to you for efficiently written program!
