Thoughts about SETI and SETI@home
1. Statistically speaking, I think the odds are pretty fair for there being another form of life in our universe (other than us). The trick may be finding them, as civilization (or life) spans thoughout the universe may, or may not, be synchronized up with our own. I think a certain amount of mitigation should be in order (in case the life that is discovered turns out to be predatory, or warlike, in nature). I also believe that if nothing is ventured, nothing is gained. I run SETI as it may be possible for mutual collaboration and advancement of human and alien civilizations if we venture forth.

2. A transmitting beacon: This is a bold move (the \\"fools rush in where angels fear to tread\\" paradigm) for human civilization to make. If there are alien civilization(s) that are predatory (or warlike) in nature currently existing out there somewhere, we may be marking human civilization as a potential target. Again, we return to the venue of \\"nothing ventured [is] nothing gained\\". I say yes (life is too short) i.e. as the potential benefits outweigh the potential dangers.

3. Either way, I enjoy being associated with this project and do hope other alien life is discovered within my lifetime. I support SETI in everyway.
