Profile: Brian O'Rourke

Personal background
I was born in Fremont, Nebraska. I grew up in Mobile, Alabama. I graduated from the University of South Alabama in 1985. I joined the Army with the hope of getting money to go to law school. Something happened though! I decided I liked the Army. So I stayed. I have been in the Army for 22 years now.

I am an Army Chief Warrant Officer (MOS is Legal Administration). I currently work at The Judge Advocate General's School, Charlottesville, VA as a Combat Developer. I have been to Korea, Germany (two tours), Panama, Puerto Rico, Fort Sill, Oklahoma, and Fort McClellan, Alabama. I also worked in New Orleans, Louisiana as an Army Recruiter as well (that was an abysmal job). I have been a warrant officer for a little over 5 years now. I manage law offices for the Army; dealing with almost all aspects of legal administration, office management, civilian and military personnel management, budgeting, information technology management, information systems security, labor, and contracts.

My hobbies include poetry reading and writing, computer stuff, quantum electrodynamics, mudding, swimming, bicycling, weightlifting, and running.

Thoughts about SETI and SETI@home
I think extraterrestrial life exists. I think that we will be discovered first. In fact, I think they have already been here. I have met people who claim as much. I like the SETI@home project. It's a cool screensaver if it's anything else! Besides when I get visitors over I can show them and get them interested as well. Deep down inside, I am hoping some benevolent race of space aliens come and save our butts from ourselves.
