Personal background
I'm a 16 year old male High School student on a KickAss computer system with a moderate internet connection. When heard of SETI@home I thought, "What else am I going to do with 1.1 Mhz of Processing Power?" :). I guess this is me 'giving back to the community'.
Thoughts about SETI and SETI@home
I personally have no clue if ETs exist but if they do I would sure like to know. I have no clue if we will ever discover ETs in my lifetime but I do believe there is always a possibility. I think that what SETI is doing is pretty cool and this SETI@home project is a remarkle work of genius. The one thing I think SETI should do is study /all/ types of transmissions and not just specific Radio-frequency transmissions (I don't have the details on any of this stuff but I think the general idea is right). Who knows, maybe someday we'll come up with a new type of communication which is even better than Radio-frequency (or whatever) and we'll forget all about Radio-freq and concentrate on this new type of communication.
