Hi, I'm in the UK, 33, currently a full time carer.
I love to fly and love anything airplane shaped :o)
I don't suppose I'm the most exciting user ever to descend upon SETIweb! My idea of an exciting night at home is a good book :D
Thoughts about SETI and SETI@home
I think the SETI project is great. Ultimately, I find it impossible to believe that we are the only life in such a vast unknown universe.
Whether or not this project finds any form of intelligent life I think the fact that so many diverse individuals from around the world have combined their efforts to a single aim is remarkable. Also, the technological achievement of making the project work in the first place cannot be overlooked.
Suggestions? Just make sure the BOINC platform will run on as much hardware as possible. I have 4 PCs running the client but only as long as the support is wide ranging and covers older, slower kit - every hour must be a worthwhile contribution, even from a slow PC. Also, in the event that intelligence is found, let the users whose computers found it know - what a rush that would be for them!
