I am Canadian. I live and work in Winnipeg, a wonderful city! I am a self-employed IT Project Manager with work experience in a number of locations around the world including cities in Canada, the USA, France and the UK.
I have always enjoyed traveling, whether it was for business or for pleasure. That may be one of the reasons why looking for ETI is so interesting to me: What are they like? How do they live? What do they eat? What do they believe? What is important to them? Do I like their art? Their language? Their culture? I think you get the idea...
When not working or monitoring my SETIat home progress, I like to walk or play golf.

I can not say that I believe extraterrestrial life exists, but I certainly do think it does! As "Sparks'" father said in "Contact": "If we are alone, it's certainly a tremendous waste of space!" I enjoy the feeling of belonging I get from running the SETIatHome clients on as many computers as I can.
I will not be surprised to discover that this project has come across a convincing signal. I do wonder, though, whether we will really have the tools to interpret it the way the characters in the movie did.
I also wonder what people around the world would do with the knowledge. I know there are a lot of very smart people who think about that one, but can anyone really know how all the different peoples and cultures will react to the news? I think we will all be surprised by the way some parts of the world react, and I believe the real surprises will come from the developed world. Just my two cents!
