Thoughts about SETI and SETI@home
Statistically, the odds are in favour of extraterrestrial life, but whether or not we'll ever make contact is another matter. The cosmos is as vast as the celestial bodies are numerous. However we've got to start somewhere and SETI@home seems as good a place as any. Even if SETI@home never finds anything extraterrestrial, it's terrestrial achievements are astounding. That's why I got involved. It was just too compelling to ignore. While we were all busily beavering away looking for ET, we became the worlds biggest supercomputer. Maybe by the time ET pays us a visit, the only thing that'll be left is whatever the SETI@home network becomes. Far out man.
