Personal background
I'm a 44 year old IT Specialist and have been working for various Government Agencies, including the Department of the Navy (DOD) and the Social Security Administration (SSA).

I am from Idaho and have lived all over the western US. My tour in the Navy took me to the east coast as well as overseas to the Middle East (Bahrain). I currently live in Silverdale, WA and commute via ferry to my current job in Seattle. I work in the third tallest building west of the Mississippi.

My website has many updated features, including daily photos of the area. Have some fantastic sunrise photos of Mount Rainier as well as documenting destruction and construction (i.e. the new Seahawks Stadium and old Kingdome). The website has quite a following for these features.

I take advantage of every day doing many different activities, including playing basketball and running. There is nothing better then a quite, clear evening to gazing up into the known universe. Ok, so it's the second best thing.

Thoughts about SETI and SETI@home
I truly believe we are not alone. It would be a 'great waste of space' if there were no extraterrestial life in this universe. We will discover other life forms, even in this solar system. However, intelligent extraterrestial life will first discover us.

I would certainly hope 'visitors' would treat us with respect. But it's not a guarantee. The visitors could teach us new technologies and insights into the universe. Unfortunately they could also treat us as pets, slaves, or even food. We have no idea what the visitors could be looking for. The world's religions could one of the first casualties of this encounter.

It's only 'human nature' to seek out other life in the universe. Transmitting a beacon for others to find is only logical. The information to send would be images and sounds of our planet.

Seti@Home is an excellent way for the rest of us to participate in this venture. Started running S@H in August, 1999. Have had up to 6 computers running S@H using various Linux and various Windows O/S's. I currently have 3 computers running Classic and 2 running BOINC. Every unit has been processed by myself. I've finally passed the 20,000 mark in Seti Classic, just before it shut down, and the 65,000 mark in Seti BOINC, as a proud member of Team Picard.
