Personal background
I live in Parsippany, NJ and work for a marketing research firm as a programmer. My first love has always been all forms of science, games, and the other myriad ways of challenging the mind.
Thoughts about SETI and SETI@home
I believe humans will make a tremendous discovery within the next 50 years. Technology for seeking out radio signals and extrasolar planets continues to grow by enormous bounds, and I am very optimistic about the possibilities.

As for broadcasting our presence, perhaps passivity is the more prudent choice for now. Better to let other civilizations find us in their due course.

SETI@home is brilliant. What a fantastic way of distributing computing power efficiently and involving interested laypersons in such an exciting and important scientific project!
