Personal background
I am Eurydice, a Maine Coon and Siamese crossbred. I recently celebrated my first birthday April 1st. My human on the other hand is almost 6 cat years old (34 people years) and lives in a place she pronounces "Misery", which I have located online as Missouri. Her occupation seems to be spending enormous quantities of time away from our den at a place she calls "work". WHy she goes there is beyond me, as she is always tired and cranky when she gets home and "doesn't want to play just then". I think I heard her say Life Claims, Insurance to a fellow human. Anyways, my hobbies are chasing strings, metallic pom poms, eating only the freshest of foods, making sure my human gets up before that annoying "alarm clock" goes off, and looking cute. It is my duty to lead the stumbling human to the "Restroom" during the night. I stay right under her feet so she lurches and falls as she tries to walk there. I have to make sure she is awake enough that she won't fall asleep in there. I need her to warm the bed! =^..^= She enjoys music, Star Trek, thunderstorms and many other oddities that a cat would never think about. Oh, and she tries to stay on this computer, but she doesn't realize it is mine....
Thoughts about SETI and SETI@home
1. I hope extraterrestrial life exists because a universe filled only with humans is such a waste...there certainly must be better life forms out there. And if any are hostile, my kind will eat them. SO pay attention to how we react around strangers, you never know what we are trying to tell you...Humans will discover life only when life is ready to make itself know. ANd since humans can't even live in the same apartment complex without squabbling, I don't think they will come down here for a while yet. Hopefully the mean tasty ones will...The benefits would be expanding the human viewpoint and culture. The dangers could be that maybe humans are tasty to the aliens...Doubtful. I've tasted mine on numerous occasions. They really couldn't do anything to this world that humans haven't done to it already.

2. Yes, humans should transmit a beacon stating just how afraid yet hopeful they are. Transmit data about cultures and wars, diseases and science. Peace and dreams. Being up front with who you are is the only way to build trust.

3. I run Seti@home because it puts my human to sleep, then I have a bedwarmer. She likes it because it is furthering one of her dreams, that we do contact someone else so she knows we are no longer alone. The project is great, and it is wonderful that so many people can help. Humans working together. We cats may befriend dogs if this trend continues...No suggestions. Fine just the way it is.
