Personal background
1971, when the first microprocessor came out, was the year I was
born in Roth, Germany. I still live there though my work (Linux
and Solaris admin/programmer) is in Erlangen. I started with an
Amstrad CPC 464, had my Atari Mega ST4 for 16 years, and since
nine years I have fun with my PowerMac 7600 running Mac OS 7
to OS X.1, BeOS, Linux; emulating MagiC, Windows, AmigaOS.

Since 2002 I own an iBook I am very happy with it. Besides, I'm
into playing keyboard, collecting movies, improving my little
home cinema (beamer, DVD, DTS), doing amateur astronomy and
configuring Linux to better match my PPC hardware.
Thoughts about SETI and SETI@home
I find the CETI variation of the SETI acronym
(C is for 'Contact') very adequate. Aren't we
already sending a beacon by transmitting our
global frequency salad into space? Because of
that, I think, we should also continue to
scan for the beacons of other civilizations.
'Contact' by Carl Sagan is one of my favourite
books (the film being one of my favourite movies).
Except for the possibility of creating wormholes,
I think the perspective that 'Contact' suggests
is a very true and realistic one.
