| Thoughts about SETI and SETI@home |

*Transmission Reinitated* Okay, Thoughts about SETI? Of course extraterrestrial life exists, and in fact, I feel that they are watching us, the human race, at this very moment. However, they do not have evil or malicious intent. If they had such intent, they should have done such an activity a long time ago. I believe that there is a Federation of Planets like in Star Trek that has been operating in our galaxy for a while and they're just waiting for the human race to advance to a certain level to have "First Contact" with the alien races. I feel that there would not be much danger to the discovery, in fact, I feel that when we ever discover that we are not alone and/or if extraterrestrial craft or beings were to publically come to our planet, it would quickly quell the tensions between ourselves. I feel that with the discovery, racial discrimination would definately be less of a problem, simply because we would probably look "stupid" in such advanced presense. At first we would be panicky about such discovery or a public encounter, but then we would be glad that an event such as that has occured.
I run SETI@home to help on the discovery of intelligence outside our planet. Although I feel that most extraterrestrial life would be using much more advanced technology that would not be recieved normally, like subspace radio, there still would be "leaks" and sometimes there are also civilizations such as ours that would be transmitting signals as well intentionally and unintentionally. I feel that we should also be transmitting deliberate signals under cooperation of many nations to say that we would like to be visited under friendly pretenses, so that an official public visit may be encouraged.
I do have high hopes that one day when we discover life on other planets, that our own human race would come to understand that we do need to be much more responsible for ourselves and mature. |
