Thoughts about SETI and SETI@home
Regarding to the immensity of universe, I couldn't believe we are alone. However, we have just a little chance to discover an eti, perhaps now, perhaps in 10000 years or more, perhaps never. i think there is no danger to discover an eti, but to be some thing surprised... We are transmitting many electromagnetic waves, with high powers, like TV transmitter. For example, I have transmit, in earth stations, high power carriers, with 10 meter diameter parabolic antenna (so, with a very high gain) to reach geo-stationary satellites. Of course these signals could be received very far. However, we could imagine to transmit a simple very powerful signal, with an very high gain antenna (Arecibo, why not ?) because this is the only way to send a much powerful signal in the space. so, we have to choose the frequency, the bandwidth, the type of signal to transmit, the data to transmit (to my idea primary numbers in eight base). I like the idea to use our common internet network and PCs to participate at a dream of little boy, in a free and pacific project, all around our small planet.
