I'm what you can consider a man of all trades concerning the trade of programming. The last time I've counted how many languages I've programmed in, I stopped around 25.
I've had a very bumpy and unstable professional life, all in the spirit of learning as much as I could to be well informed !!
Finally I've settle down now. I have the most adorable son in the world, called Rafael and I'm quite happily "not married" ;) with a very nice girl !!! |
| Thoughts about SETI and SETI@home |

Is anybody out there ??? Sure!!! The Universe is so vast, that it would be a complete waste of space for only one inteligent race. I'm quite sure that life has evolved in similar, but not equal, ways in a reasonable amount of planets. The formula that a scolar has create to express the amount of planets where int. life can exist, roles out over a thousand possibilities!!
Now... talking/comunicating with them is quite another ball game !!
Whe are very obfuscated by our own ways of comunication... Whe are not very good at looking at things with no preconcepts in mind. How can whe try and understand an Alien language? Take the hieroglyphs: translation was possible only because of a stone that had 2 more languages... and the hieroglyph are human made !!!
So possibly it's gonna be a mess when whe are contacted, not counting the government's "cloak and daggering" addiction and a lot more.
It's gonna bee pure luck if whe get on the right foot with any alien race, and I say this cuz there are so many cultural clashes amidst ourself's that making an intergalatic blooper could just get us transformed into vapor :-\\
But I'm an optimist, so probably everything will be conduced in a very nice and peacefull maner !!!
The beacon is not quite necessary. All our radio/tv waves have been travelling for more than 50 years. If someone is listening, they have quite an extensive collection of sounds, images and ideas that are in that info... the beacon would be just a little light in the middle of the NY xmas tree !!
Never the less, I am quite curious on getting this whole matter of knowing if there is anyone out there solved, that's my main reason to help the seti@home people !! |
