Thoughts about SETI and SETI@home
I got nto S@H pretty early on, as a lot of people in a Star Trek Fan Organization I belong to were eager to join up from Day 1. I managed to hold out a week or 2, but signed up pretty early on.

I run the S@H mainly because I'm truly curious to see if there is anyhtining else living out there in space. Personally, I think the underlying concept behind S@H is the neatest idea I've seen in a long time -- get people to donate their $3000 Interneet terminals in lieu of supercomputer time. Ha! Pure genius. I bet a lot of IT wonks are going "Why didn't we think of that!" right about now.

As for "they" being out there -- I sure hope so. As for them being benevolent or manevolent -- hope the best, fear the worst.
