Personal background
Nothing of interest. Born in Czech Republic, in the ex-mining city of Pribram, then moved to Prague, finished highschool, got to university, attempts on painting, attempts on making bad guitar-based tunes, attempts on doing anything, not to get bored.
Thoughts about SETI and SETI@home
I don't think it really exists. Or better - I don't think it really matters, wheter ET does or does not exist and don't think finding it, or discovering it would be such an important event. It's all a question of faith and believing in something, I basically believe in everything that seems worth believing, so I joined SETI, for maybe some day, eerie creepy greenie creatures from outer space will be tracked by the satellites...

OK, I do take it a bit more seriously than that, but I'm still a little bit sceptical, I just think that most people don't realize that discovering ET would probably only change things intellectually, only change the point of view on certain matters, but getting some sort of an alien TV commercial from space could never change our lives scientifically or materially...

But I the feeling that something lives out there would be enough for me. I still enjoy the feeling of getting data chunks from the cold space around us, and I would love to enjoy the feeling of being sure of an ET existence...though it would not affect my existence in any way, just the certainity would be great. Don't know why.

And I'd like to see the tentacled beasts, if something like that would be discovered.
