Personal background
I have been on the quest for knowledge and understanding since I first touched this planet. I philosophise every day of my life, studying and listening, for an answer that I envey on answering, and that is why we are here. I believe that the cosmos hold the keys to this quest and I have grown to be passionate about it.
Thoughts about SETI and SETI@home
1. Do I believe extraterrestrial life exists? Of course. The vastness of our universe puts me awe, we can't just contain ourselves into believing that WE ARE THE ONLY ONES. The amount of galaxies in the observable universe is still unknown but it is thought to contain billions upon billions of galaxies containing countless numbers of stars.

It's amazing that our chemical makeup can be seen floating in nebulae dust light years away, suggesting that when super massive stars fuse heavier elements and erupt into a super nova, it brings fourth the possibility of planet formations and maybe within a few million years, micro organisms, algae, LIFE.. Also, when peering at this planetary nebula you are virtually looking back in time due to the collasal distances the light has to travel to reach us. During these primodial views of the night sky we see the other end may contain paradice worlds orbiting life giving stars harboring new civilizations.

I do not believe the majority of civilization is even ready for such a drastic change in our belief system. For eons, most of civilization believed and still believes that divine force which made us the prime existance otherwise known as "his greatest creation". For there to be other creatures existing from across the sky some drastic revisions would have to be undertaken. Everytime we peer into the sky with more advanced equipment and knowledge, the lesser are we
signfigant we seem in the grand scheme of things.

But I also understand that some will not treat this knowledge of aliens as a cataclysmic event, but of an opportunity to learn. However the governments would want to acquire technology for war and "defense purposes" which would eventually end up being our demise. If all of the governmental bodies "came together" as one central government, then the need for defense of other country's actions would be eradicated.

SETI is a facinating and promising project, with time and patience I believe we will find what we are looking for. It is our chance to listen in on times past and summerize life and purpose of it all. We must join together as human beings and for a common cause, revolutionize our chaotic world.
