Thoughts about SETI and SETI@home
1 - I'm quite sure that extraterrestrial life exists. It would be very pretentious to think that we are the only form of life in the universe.
Maybe we will be discovered first... I hope to be still alive when it happens.
The benefit of such a discovery could be the destruction of old metaphysics and the building of a new one. The dangers rely more on intra-terrestrial conflicts about the discovery than hypothetical extraterrestrial hostility. Curiosity will protect us.
2 - Send them The Complete Works of Shakespeare rather than mathematical abstractions. To avoid misleading advertising.
3 - SETI@home is a great project. How powerful could be computers linked together and what a symbol...
Give us more information about the interpretation of results.
