Personal background
I'm from southeastern Ohio, where most people live in the woods and they all think they've been abducted, so that's why I do seti, because you never know...
I'm 17 right now, a junior in high school. I love physics, it's the best thing in the world. If anyone wants to talk physics hit me up! zachwisor@yahoo.com
Thoughts about SETI and SETI@home
I personally think that extraterrestrial life exists because I think it'd just be boring if we were all alone. That's like the chance of there just being one grain of salt in the ocean, it's not likely. I think that most likely we'll discover other life when we are least expecting it.
I think that there are extraordinary benefits to discovering and contacting life out there. Medical advancements, technological breakthroughs, and other magnificant things. The dangers though are right here. Either we'd have people scared and try to harm the extraterrestrials or use their technology the wrong way and kill us all.
I believe that humans should transmit a beacon for others to find, and the beacon should be of something happy like kids on a playground giving a a greeting.
I run seti@home because I think it is a wonderful cause, and there is plenty of time I'm not at the computer so at least it's doing something useful.
