Personal background
I am a student studying computing at the University of Central Lancashire, in Preston, England. I am studying to hopefully become a Systems Analyst.
I have a keen interest in Space and anything that I can do to help to further mans reach to the stars I will gladly do.

I am interested in computers (obviously), snowboarding and badminton.

Thats about it really.

Hope you all find what your looking for.
Thoughts about SETI and SETI@home
Extraterrestrial life must exist.
The odds of an entire universe being completely devoid of life except for one tiny planet is exceptionally remote. Although the probability of all the elements coming togther to form life on Earth was exceptional to say the least for us, it surely cannot be an isolated case. If the Universe was started by a big bang, it is likely that matter was ejected from the point of explosion in fairly equal amounts travelling at relatively similar speeds from that point. If this was the case then the conditions needed to form life on earth is likely to have been repeated in millions of places throughout the universe.

What do we do if we meet a civilisation? Well for one we should not let just one country make any decision which might be in contrast with another. All decisions should be voted on.

Advantages of such a discovery could bring mixed blessings. If they are anything like us they will be more interested in gaining the upper hand be it economically or in an act of war. Either way if we are visited first then they will have the advantage.
If they are peaceful, then we will have much to learn in terms of space travel and the technological advances would make the industrial revolution look like a childs invention fair.

I run seti@home because I want to help further our reach into the stars and if I can help even by just leaving my computer to crunch some numbers then it is the least I can do.
