Personal background
We're just a community of some students, workers and stuff in the south of Lower Saxony, Germany.
It took a too long time between building our LAN and recognizing our perfect environment for SETI.
We just let our machines (some Windows, some Linux, one Mac) calculate some stuff while CPUs are not really needed, for it doesn't hurt anyone.

Thoughts about SETI and SETI@home
If you ask yourself if ET exists, then just try Douglas Adams' way: Divide the known number of living individuals by the infinite space, and you will see that there are 0 (zero) human beings per cubic metre :-)
So, we in o-town.de just let our machines (some Windows, some Linux, one Mac) calculate some stuff while CPUs are not really needed, for it doesn't hurt anyone.
To be honest: I _do_ believe in foreign life, but I'm 99% sure we'll never get in touch with it.
But: I do not want to be the one guilty for us all having missed the "First Contact" :-)
